Francis’ Story

At 104 years old, Francis—known as Frank to friends—continues to live independently at home, supported by the care team at Be Caring. With support from Be Caring, Francis has been able to stay in the home he loves and keep connected to his community. Following the passing of his beloved wife, Pauline, Francis found himself adjusting to life alone. Over time, he recognised the importance of support in maintaining his independence and quality of life. In 2021, he turned to Be Caring—and for the past four years, our team has proudly supported him.

Daily Support with a Personal Touch

Each day, our care team helps Francis with essential tasks like mobilising, washing, dressing, and preparing breakfast—support that allows him to stay independent in his own home.

But for Francis, it’s not just about the practical help. He values the familiar faces, the chats, and the sense of connection that’s grown over time. “The memories will live with me as long as I will live,” he shares, reflecting on the trust and companionship he’s found with the people who support him each day. His Care Workers aren’t just there to help, they’re a consistent, caring part of his everyday life.

Staying Connected to Community

Thanks to the support he receives, Francis remains active in his local community. Every Thursday, he attends a luncheon club, a routine that helps him stay socially connected. Having that support means he feels confident getting out and about—and staying connected with others.

Francis enjoys the simple moments too—like singing with his carers. These experiences bring joy to his days and support his emotional well-being.

Francis speaks of his carers with appreciation, describing them as “honest and faithful.” Their support has brought reassurance to his life at a time when it mattered most. Francis’s story shows how personalised, consistent care can help older people stay well, connected, and at home.
