18 Mar Celebrating Darren: A Commitment to Care at the Sheffield Care Awards
Exceptional care is delivered by exceptional people! We were so proud to see our colleague Darren nominated for the Commitment to Care Award at the Sheffield Care Awards 2024!
With an incredible 22 years of experience in care, Darren’s dedication and compassion have made a profound impact on the people he supports and the colleagues he works alongside. His nomination is a reflection of the way he goes above and beyond every single day.
Darren attended the awards ceremony alongside his daughter-in-law Natalie, our CEO Sharon Lowrie, and Recruitment Officer Hamza Khadir. The event, hosted by Sheffield City Council, was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the dedication of care professionals across the city.

The whole team in Sheffield is incredibly proud of Darren and this amazing achievement. Hannah Holmes, Operations Manager, praised Darren’s incredible commitment saying,
“Darren is an incredible asset to Be Caring, consistently going above and beyond every single day—not just for our clients, but for the service as a whole. His dedication, kindness, and commitment make a real difference in the lives of those he supports. Darren greets everyone with a warm smile, creating a positive and compassionate environment that truly transforms the experience of care. This nominated is so well deserved, and we couldn’t be prouder of him. Well done, Darren!”
Although Darren didn’t take home the award, his nomination speaks volumes about the impact he has made. Hearing his name announced among Sheffield’s most outstanding care professionals was a proud moment for everyone at Be Caring.
Darren said,
“I had a really great night at the Care awards celebrating with Natalie, Hamza and Sharon. I’m grateful for the support from the Sheffield team and proud of the amazing work we do every day. Hopefully this nomination is the first of many for Be Caring Sheffield!”

A Champion of Care
Darren’s dedication to care goes far beyond his day-to-day responsibilities. He’s always looking for ways to enhance the lives of those he supports, whether that’s learning a few words in Mandarin to better communicate with a client or using gaps in his rota to revisit people and make their day.
Here’s what some of the people Darren supports have said about him:
“Darren is an excellent carer. If I was rating him, I would say he is outstanding!”
“Darren is amazing. He has known me for over 19 years, and he always knows how to support me.”

Proud to Care
We are incredibly proud of Darren and his well-deserved recognition at the Sheffield Care Awards.
Congratulations, Darren!
