LIFE by Be Caring is an independent supported living service in Newcastle. In particular it’s tailored towards people with learning disabilities and mental health problems.

Most importantly, it’s our aim to enable everyone who we support to achieve their potential    and lead a fulfilled life.

LIFE by Be Caring offers three different services, each with person-centred care plans. Consequently, our combination of independent supported living care is always unique. Therefore, the life-goals of those who we support at LIFE are the focus of what we do. So, we never let physical or mental health challenges limit possibilities.

Meet our office team

Our bright and airy office in Newcastle is located just a short walk from the popular suburb of Gosforth. Our Tyneside service is the largest within Be Caring, so our office has a dynamic, lively feel! Our office team are super friendly (what else would you expect from a room full of Geordies?!) and always have some kind of sweet treats on the go – midget gems are a particular favourite if you’re ever wanting to score some serious brownie points!

Meet Amy, one of our LIFE by Be Caring Support Workers

Amy

Support Worker

“The best thing by far about my role as a Support Worker is spending time with the three ladies I support! I see them a few times a week, and we get on so well and are really close. Even though there’s sometimes challenging days, it’s always a lot of fun!”.

How did you come to work in social care?

After university, I wasn’t 100% sure exactly what I wanted to do, but I did know I was interested in the health care field. I came across this role in the Be Caring LIFE team 5 years ago, and here I am!

What's your favourite thing about being a Support Worker?

The best thing by far about my role as a Support Worker is spending time with the three ladies I support! I see them a few times a week, and we get on so well and are really close. Even though there’s sometimes challenging days, it’s always a lot of fun!

We spend our time together doing a number of activities, such as cooking (healthy meals of course!), painting, and pottery. We also love having movie nights – Frozen is a big favourite with the ladies I support.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career in support work?

It’s a really, really rewarding career. Yes, it can have its challenges at times, but it’s totally worth it. It’s a really good job, and I enjoy it a lot!

Care and support for the people in our community

We provide outreach services across Newcastle upon Tyne and North Tyneside. Meaning that we’re enabling people to continue participating within their community. As a result, learning or physical disabilities, and mental health problems, aren’t limitations.

Outreach Support Workers assist people to pursue their interests. We could attend work placements, help with educational courses or even go on holiday for instance. Being active participants in their local community is hugely important to our clients.

We also support people with learning disabilities and autism, and have dedicated Independent Supported Living (ISL) colleagues who specialise in the unique care-needs of our customers. As a result, each service is completely bespoke. For example, one client even has regular ‘come dine with me’ events, pamper parties and movie nights!
