Newcastle City Home Support Contract

Be Caring are pleased to announce that we are one of 12 providers who have been awarded the new homecare contract In Newcastle

As an existing provider of home care, complex and palliative and learning disabilities services in Tyneside, we submitted our tender response in March 2022, and nervously awaited the outcome. We are one of 3 care providers who will deliver local authority funded homecare in the North of Newcastle across Castle, Fawdon, West Gosforth, Parkland, Gosforth, Kenton, Dene and South Gosforth, Manor Park and North Jesmond.

Better Terms and Conditions for our Care Workers in Newcastle

This new contract means we can recruit and employ our Care Workers on better terms and conditions, valuing our workforce, paying Care Workers for their full time at work and allow them to utilise their time to support people to live at home for as long as possible, maintaining their dignity and independence. As an employee-owned social enterprise we already offer a number of employee benefits including; Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), New Starter bonus of up to £300, Refer a Friend bonus of up to £300, and an annual bonus of up to £250 annual bonus and a £25 birthday gift voucher. We pay people fully for their induction training and as a Levey Payer provide access to Level 2 and level 3 apprenticeships.

New Model of Homecare in Newcastle

Newcastle City Council have been bold and forward-thinking in the development of the new homecare contract, with greater emphasis individual outcomes, paying providers in such a way that will allow providers to move away from traditional task and time and move towards more bespoke personalised care and support, and support people to connect to groups and support in their local area.

Home care is not simply about the checklist of tasks that need to be completed. Especially during the pandemic, many of our colleagues have been the only people we care for saw, and the emphasis on the relationship between the Care or Support Worker and those we support became increasingly important. Consistency is so important to people, we are committed to helping retain the right people in our workforce, ensuring they feel valued and visits can be flexible enough so they have time to listen to people about what they want and need. Ambitious Recruitment for Care Workers in Newcastle for our Home Support Contract

We are currently mobilising the home support contract and will eventually provide homecare to 120 people who live in the North of Newcastle. We are actively recruiting Care Workers, offering £10.50 per hour for walkers and £11.00 per hour for drivers. What’s exciting is that we will employ people on a shift basis where our Care Workers will be paid from the start of their first care call to the end of their last care call. This means our Care Workers can utilise their time fully to support people in their offering additional calls, looking after people’s wellbeing rather than being restricted to care tasks and the scheduled calls.
